10-word summary: A monster living among man, trying to find her place

Rating: 4 stars

Review: This book was pretty good, though some of the parts were bland and repetitive, unlike the other standalone book set in this world, Graciling. The book is about Fire, a girl who is half monster half human. She has the ability to shift and control minds, though even though she has this truly awe inspiring ability, she is afraid to use it because of her fear of her father. Fires father, Cransel took control of the king of the dells and had complete control over the entire country and all of it's people except for prince Brigan, until he committed an apparent suicide.

Favorite quotation: "It was a haunting tune, unresigned, a cry of heartache for all in the world that fell apart" Cashore 461.
