Review by: Caroline Z. (Period 3) Author: Gennifer Albin Number of pages: 357 10-word summary: Adelice can weave time and matter. Can she possibly survive? Rating: 4 stars Review: I gave this book four stars because its definitely not my favorite book I've ever read, but it has a very intriguing plot. It is set in a distopian society. Adelice can weave time and space to create reality. For some reason, the guild is particularly interested in Adelice, and she's not sure why. Being a spinster is the dream of most girls in Arras, the world in which they live. The spinsters never see their families again, but they live a glamorous lifestyle, with their personal aesthetic assistants, fancy clothes, and extravagant rooms. Usually girls who try to escape the guild(the people who run the show)are killed. Adelice refuses to cooperate and starts gaining enemies fast. Adelice begins slowly gaining information about the Guild. The more she hears, the more she hates them. There is some romance, but not overwhelmingly so. What if Arras and the Guild aren't as all powerful as people think? What if Adelice actually stands a chance? Favorite quotation: "Examples",she starts slowly, evidently intent on keeping her composure, "are necessary to show the importance of our work. You can play the victim Adelice, but you are just as culpable as I am. When you cannot make the difficult decision for the good of others, you jeopardize everyone."
