Review by: Vienna S. (Period 6) Author: Chris Columbus and Ned Vizzini Number of pages: 490 10-word summary: Fast-paced, adventurous tale involving three kids, witches, giants, and pirates. Rating: 5 stars Review: This book was absorbing and exciting and I was unable to put it down! The author brought the characters to life in such a way that when the pirates were attacking the main characters, it felt as though you were fighting alongside them. The plot was full of action and moved along at a rapid pace. The illustrations in the book were unusual in that they looked like pencil drawings--black, white and grey and were placed strategically in the book. Favorite quotation: "Well, you did just fine when you were a skeleton!" Brendan snapped. page 358
